parents evening

HI we've just been to our very first parents evening. But your child is in year 1 you cry how have you managed that you terrible parents you!!!!

Well actually no we've been to a fair few parents evenings but basically found they're not about parents they're about the children. With the kids starting at a new school we got the invite to the parents and guess what my child's skills weren't mentioned once, well briefly but not much. It was an evening talking about the school its future plans etc and meeting other parents. As Andy put it the best parents evening he's ever been to.

We actually have our pupil updates next week (parents evening for those who know it as that) and we get 20 minutes rather than the usual 5 I'm blown away really. Not used to such fab communication really.
