My ds1 who is nearly 6 spent a good hour helping to clean out our shell sandpit which we've had since he was bout 3 I think today and then spent an equal amount of time playing in it. he is huge now in comparison to when we bought it, but he still loves it. Isn't it amazing how you never grow out of something like sand, I still adore going to the seaside and if the kids have the sandpit out I am drawn to build sandcastle and sand tutles etc etc.
On a bi side wickes is a great place to get sand really cheap, and they always have it in stock but you have to ask for it as they have it in the back.
