Thanks Nikki on your blog you reminded me about this
I wrote to Bury council some time ago to ask about cardboard recycling, you
know cereal packets etc etc that we all use all the time, we can take them
to the supermarket when we shop, but as we now have these all singing
recycling boxes I wondered why we couldn't recycle cardboard. Either in the
black boxes or in the green bags. I was told it was too expensive, now I
know I find it hard to store cardboard as we use so much of it and have been
a bit lax of late in recycling it, but if it wasn't something you had the
space or time for, its much harder to recycle or get into the habit of
recycling it. It wouldn't be too hard for them to add dry cardboard to the
green bags if they gave us a few green bags instead of one, but I was told
it would take a special factory plant type thing.
What I'm asking is that the council email is below would you consider
emailling them and asking to have cardboard and cardboard packets included
in some way in the recycling and agree that you would do it. Also could you
forward it on to anyone else in the Bury area who you thought might be
interested. If we can flood them with emails it is quite likely to make a
difference.
If it saves time you can copy the following and cut and paste it into an
email
Dear Sirs
I would like to recycle cardboard in the same way that I do plastics, tins
and garden waste. I am asking for it to be included in the green bag
collection or for you to provide some sort of coloured bag so it can be
recycled.
Faithfully

I have put the email below if you just want to fire off a quick email to the
council.
