Katrina

I realised I haven't posted much on what has been happening with hurricane Katrina or more importantly the aftermath.

There are 2 things for me really. How we get so much of what the media want us to see, like the other day when they airlifted the bodies, the headline on our email news was all about the football, like that bit just wasn’t important. It made me quite cross really, all those lives, all those grieving families and we were going on about the football. Not that I’m doing football down but I think people are much more important.

The other is how much attention has been given to whether President Bush has messed up or not. I don’t really know either way as you never get an unbiased view with the media and unless you could sit down and chat to the man himself and some people directly affected by the disaster (unedited) then you won’t get the whole truth. But I think it’s just wrong, surely our focus should be on what we do next, not what has happened, how do we help all these hurting, grieving and lost people. How do communities rise again and rebuild their lives? There's too much focus on the mistakes. There will be enough time in the future to figure out what went wrong, right now, surely  the priority is looking after the people directly affected by the disaster and helping them as much as we can.

It’s caused me to pray quite a bit for the rescue teams aid teams etc so they can not encounter any problems as they try to do their job and help as many people as they can, and also the people affected that they would know God’s love and help at this time and for blessing on them now and in the future.
